The NSIH Model in Action - Groundbreaking in Indiana

We are officially pioneering a new era of American defense production.  In partnership with the Department of War, ACMI has broken ground on the first National Security Industrial Hub in Bloomfield, Indiana.  This campus adjacent to NSWC Crane serves as the blueprint for our mission: accelerating domestic manufacturing from prototype to at-scale production.
  • Status: Under construction (Operations begin 2027)
  • Focus: Advanced munitions & solid rocket motors & specialized production
  • Investment: $75M federal award  |  $600M private investment

THE CAMPUS

Built for Companies That Build
What Matters

The National Security Industrial Hub - Crane sits on 1,141 acres in Bloomfield, Indiana, just minutes from one of the Department of War's most important research and testing installations.  It's the largest aerospace and defense development in the state, and it was designed from the ground up for one purpose: giving defense contractors, aerospace manufacturers, and energetics companies a place to design, build, and scale production - close to the customer, close to the mission.

Tenants here design their own facilities.  This is build-to-suit, meaning your building is configured for your specific production needs - whether that's munitions manufacturing, rocket motor assembly, advanced fabrication, or prototyping.  The campus includes infrastructure designed for 1.1 and 1.3 energetics operations, blast-resistant construction, and compliance with Department of War (DoW) and ATF requirements.

A U.S.-based joint venture between Kratos and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Prometheus Energetics is building a 650-acre manufacturing and development complex at the heart of the campus.
Prometheus was established to develop and manufacture next-generation solid rocket propulsion and energetics systems. Their work draws on Rafael's proven rocket motor technologies - the same systems behind Iron Dome, David's Sling, and Spike missile platforms - bringing decades of battle-tested propulsion expertise to domestic manufacturing for the first time.

The facility will deliver high-performance, cost-effective solid rocket motors and produce solutions ranging from missile interceptors to tactical strike systems. It directly addresses the U.S. need for agile, secure, and domestic propulsion capabilities at a time when supply chain resilience matters more than ever.

Kratos is building a broader ecosystem in the region. Beyond Prometheus. Kratos recently broke ground on a $50M+ Indiana Payload Integration Facility at the nearby WestGate@Crane Technology Park - a 68,000 SF office, laboratory, and integration complex supporting the Multi-Service Advanced Capabilities Hypersonic Testbed (MACH-TB) program. That facility, expected to be operational by end of 2026, will create 100+ high-tech jobs and puts full-scale environmental testing for next-generation hypersonic systems right in the neighborhood. Kratos has committed to investing more than $456 million and creating up to 628 jobs in Indiana by 2029.

Taken together, Prometheus at NSIH and Kratos at WestGate are making southern Indiana one of the most concentrated defense propulsion and hypersonics corridors in the country - and that's exactly the kind of ecosystem that draws additional supply chain companies to the campus.
